Welcome to Modern Icons!

My name is Mick Rose (art name Rosie). I've been painting icons since 1991. I've always thought of icons as something painted in the presence of God. Well, that certainly is the case in my work.I can say honestly that I have done much of the work in the presence of the Father, sometimes Jesus and of course the Holy Spirit. The presence of God has certainly been enjoyable.

From the sketch to the finished article the Living God has been in control of the icons. They are unusual and the prints are of a lush quality. I've been a working member of St. John's Theological College, Nottingham for over 32 years and have held exhibitions in the main chapel and quiet chapel also.

I gave up the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll of the sixties to follow Christ Jesus and have not looked back. I hope you enjoy the artwork and understand the symbolism. Please feel free to tell me your thoughts on the icon works.
